The awards are sponsored by the current Corflu (COR41U, to be held in Las Vegas) and the results will be announced at the banquet on Sunday March 3 2024 – membership of Corflu (or anything else) is not a requirement for voting, which is open to anyone with an interest in fanzines.

As always, the reminder that TIR should not be seen as a definitive list of what you can or cannot vote for. All votes are recorded in good faith, subject to proper categorization.

Ballots must be received by midnight PST, Saturday February 24, 2024.

Faneds (or indeed anyone at all) receiving this are encouraged to publicize the awards, redistribute TIR or indeed engage in advocacy for any favored titles/individuals as a part of promotion of the awards overall.

New on e-fanzines & Corflu Pangloss PR3

From Jerry Kaufman:

Corflu Pangloss PR 3

I’m attaching the third Corflu Pangloss Progress Report. This includes information on hotel rates and booking, our Fanthology, the Banquet Menu, updated Canadian Covid requirements, general instructions for using Discord, and the inside scoop on how Corflu started.

We plan to issue one more Progress Report, which I’ll send only to current members, Attending or Supporting. (Now would be a good time to join.)  I’ll continue to send special announcements, like the opening of our online shop, to everyone. Note: if you want to be left off our list, let me know. If you want to receive the final PR but haven’t joined (yet), also let me know.

Corflu Pangloss Postponed

Corflu Pangloss Postponed

The Corflu Pangloss committee have concluded that current circumstances make our original March dates unfeasible. The Omicron variant of Covid-19 has made travel much more uncertain (the US Centers for Disease Control currently warns US residents against traveling to Canada). We hope that moving the convention later in the year will reduce or eliminate the uncertainties and perhaps more fans can attend.

Also, several critical committee members have new medical issues that make it difficult for them to work on the convention in the coming crucial weeks, and could prevent them from working onsite or even attending. We hope that with a delay we will be able to see them attend and participate as planned.

We therefore announce NEW dates for Pangloss: October 21-23, 2022

The Sands hotel has moved our function space and hospitality suite reservations to October. We hoped for an earlier weekend, possibly in September, but the sleeping rooms would have been more expensive, and the function space was not available earlier due to the hotel’s cruise business commitments. With the move to October we were able to retain our original hotel rates.

What is Hypertension? Hypertension, also known as, High Blood Pressure which has an underlying cause, like vardenafil levitra online kidney disease, or cancer. Hotel Room Rates: Stay the Same!

If you currently have a hotel reservation for our March dates, your reservation will NOT be cancelled automatically. You may either cancel only or cancel and rebook your room(s) for our new October dates by emailing sands@bwsands.com. Please include your name, reservation start date, and confirmation number in the email. If you elect to cancel now, you may, of course, book rooms for October any time up until the convention.

Note: Should you still want to visit Vancouver during our original March dates, the Sands will be glad to honor your reservation at the same convention rate. Let them know if you intend to do this.

What’s Not Changing

The deadline for Fanzine Activity Achievement Awards voting remains the same (February 25) and the awards will be announced via Zoom on Sunday, March 20 as they would have been on our original schedule. The Zoom will also include a presentation for the 2023 Corflu bid. Membership rates also will remain the same for the foreseeable future.

A “fanzine”, for our purposes, is defined as an immutable artifact, once published not subject
to revision or modification. The fanzine might not exist in a physical form. A pdf, for example, is
an artifact.

Thus, fanwriters, artists and loccers listed are those who have contributed to such a publication.

You might note a few surprising older names within the listings, which can be attributed to the publication of Outworlds 71.

The Incompleat Register 2020 includes the voters’ guide and ballot for the FAAn awards for work published in 2017. Since Corflu 38 in Bristol has been postponed to November 2021, the awards will be presented in an on-line ceremony on Sunday 28 March 2021.

Questions, comments are welcomed to the address in the issue.

What is Corflu?
http://www.corflu.org/about.html

Corflu is a small, annual convention of science fiction fanzine fans. Other conventions with a strong fanzine aspect are held across the US, Australia, and the UK, but Corflu is now the only one which keeps fanzines as its primary focus. Corflu typically moves its venue from year to year. The name “Corflu” is derived from CORrection FLUid, a substance that allowed typing errors in mimeograph stencils to be corrected, which was in much demand during the low-tech, pre-computer days of fanzine publishing.
