A Quick Note From MonSFFA’s President

Yesterday afternoon, MonSFFA opened the doors to the 2026 edition of the club’s Super Sci-Fi Book Sale. We are currently reviewing our records of the day, but it’s safe to say that the ultimate accounting will confirm this year’s final sales figure as, historically, among the event’s top tallies, and quite possibly our most rewarding yet! Suffice it so say that the club’s 2026 book sale was a great success in terms of revenues, attendance (we haven’t seen such a turn-out since before the pandemic!), interest in our club, and even our soundtrack of eclectic sci-fi and Halloween music, about which we received numerous compliments! We were thrilled to spend the afternoon with so many, many club members and friends, old and new.

So, I wanted to extend a great big THANK-YOU to all who attended, made purchases, and inquired about, or joined the club! This sale helps to fund the year-long operations of MonSFFA, and we greatly appreciate the bucks that metaphorically keep Buck Rogers flying. We hope you all enjoyed the event, and found that particular genre treasure for which you’ve been looking. Now, crack the spine and get to your reading, folks!

Finally, I wish to also offer a special tip of the hat to the many volunteers, club members as well as friends of the club, who tirelessly helped us to stage this sale. I salute our team of drivers, who transported hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of books to and from the downtown sale site; our loading/unloading crew, who heaved and carted many weighty boxes of books for the cause; our set-up people, who sorted through all the books, comics and magazines, set up our sales tables, and repacked remaining stock at the end of the day; our cashiers, who were kept busy all afternoon; those club members who prepared and distributed advertising material for us in advance of the sale; and the Nouvel Hotel staffers who assisted us, day-of, to insure the smooth operation of our event. And of course, last but certainly not least, thanks to those club members and friends who donated books, comics, and magazines to the book sale!

Without the invaluable efforts of all of these people, the Super Sci-Fi Book Sale simply would not be possible! So THANK-YOU all!
