MonSFFA’s next meeting takes place at our usual locale, the Nouvel Hotel, on Saturday, November 14 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. As always, out-of-towners will be able to take part online via ZOOM. Watch this space for further information next week.
This meeting will be our last of 2026. The club will host its traditional holiday celebrations in December; more about that in a moment!
November Meeting’s Agenda Includes:
Star People!—The “Ancient Aliens” concept, and how such speculation has influenced the science fiction genre!
These Are Not Your Father’s Vampires!—We examine fearful, non-traditional vampires!
By the Cover (Game)!—Given a SF/F painting or illustration, can you identify the foreign-edition book for which it served as the cover art?
MonSFFA’s treasurer will also present a report on October’s Super Sci-Fi Book Sale.
The meeting’s theme focuses on Remembrance Day, and we ask MonSFFen to simply place their Remembrance Day poppies on our display table in honour of this nation’s fallen.
Holiday Celebrations
The club will celebrate the season in December with our traditional Christmas Dinner/Party on Saturday, December 5, followed by our Virtual Holiday Get-Together on Saturday, December 12. Please mark these dates in your calendars.
Christmas Dinner/Party
This year’s Christmas Dinner/Party will be held at the Baton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar (Décarie), located at 5385 Rue des Jockeys, which is only a hop north of Rue Jean-Talon Ouest. The restaurant is just a short walk across the Décarie Expressway trench from the Namur Metro Station, and is part of a shopping and dining “village” near the old Blue Bonnets/Hippodrome site.
And so, with our best wishes of the festive season extended to all, MonSFFA formally invites its members, their families, and the club’s friends to our 2026 Christmas Dinner/Party.
We will gather at 6:00PM on Saturday evening, December 5, at the aforementioned Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar (Décarie). Free parking is available in front of and around the restaurant.
In keeping with our tradition, we will celebrate the season over dinner and drinks, and hold our traditional fund-raising Christmas-gift raffle—tickets are only $1.00 each, so buy a bunch, and the gift-wrapped prizes are plentiful, as always!
Do join us for an evening of camaraderie and good cheer!
Virtual Holiday Get-Together
We will also celebrate the season online, via our familiar ZOOM-chat! If you’re out of town or otherwise unable to attend the dinner/party, we would be pleased to welcome you to our Virtual Holiday Get-Together the following weekend, on Saturday afternoon, December 12, from 1:00PM-4:00PM.
We’ll gather virtually on ZOOM to simply exchange season’s greetings, raise a glass in celebration, enjoy each other’s company, and the good cheer engendered by this particular time of year!
