A long-time member of SF Canada, Jo\u00ebl Champetier was the author of several novels, young adult books, and short stories. His novels included\u00a0 <strong>La Taupe et le Dragon<\/strong>, published by Tor in English translation in 1999 as <strong>The Dragon&#8217;s Eye<\/strong>, and <strong>La Peau blanche<\/strong>, which inspired the movie <strong>La Peau blanche<\/strong>, a.k.a.<strong>White Skin<\/strong> and <strong>Cannibal<\/strong>, winner of a <em><a href=\"http:\/\/tiff.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toronto International Film Festival<\/a><\/em> award in 2004. A guest of honour at the World Fantasy Convention in 2001, he had won multiple awards, both as a writer with a literary career stretching back to the early 1980s and as the editor for many years of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.revue-solaris.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solaris<\/a><\/em>, one of the world&#8217;s oldest active SF magazines (founded in 1974).
