The fossil\u2019s black tint is believed to be caused by large amounts of manganese present in surrounding groundwater during fossilization, similar to the Royal Tyrrell Museum\u2019s ‘Black Beauty,’ a Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil found in the same region.
