How about the movies or TV episodes in which they appeared?<\/p>\n<p>Here are the answers to our quiz, which was posted at the outset of the e-meeting, earlier this afternoon (Post 1 of 7).<\/p>\n<p>This egg is that of, or these eggs are those of\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> The Xenomorph, or Alien, the titular extraterrestrial star of director Ridley Scott\u2019s 1979 film, <em>Alien<\/em>, and its sequels. Their large, wide mouths are filled with multiple rows of sharp teeth. R. Martin\u2019s <em>A Song of Ice and Fire<\/em>. The slime-oozing eggs have the nasty habit of exploding, spraying a toxic, viscous liquid on any person nearby, which instantly causes that person to, themselves, violently explode in a rain of guts and gore!<a href=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/AlienCyclops-Contamination.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-27173\" src=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/AlienCyclops-Contamination-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/AlienCyclops-Contamination-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/AlienCyclops-Contamination-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/AlienCyclops-Contamination-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/AlienCyclops-Contamination.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Contamination<\/em> was an Italian\/German co-production released in the U.S. as <em>Alien Contamination<\/em>. Writer\/director Luigi Cozzi, working under the pseudonym Lewis Coates, freely admitted that his film was entirely inspired by <em>Alien<\/em> and parroted in many ways Ridley Scott\u2019s masterpiece. Montreal-born actress Louise Marleau starred as a government operative assigned to deal with the situation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7)<\/strong> The Roc, a giant, two-headed, mythological bird, as seen in 1958\u2019s fantasy\/adventure <em>The 7th Voyage of Sinbad<\/em>. Travelling to the island of Colossa, Sinbad and his crew come upon a huge egg and kill the emerging hatchling for food, only to be set upon by the chick\u2019s angry parent.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/RocEggHatches-7thVoyageOfSinbad.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-27185\" src=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/RocEggHatches-7thVoyageOfSinbad-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/RocEggHatches-7thVoyageOfSinbad-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/RocEggHatches-7thVoyageOfSinbad-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/RocEggHatches-7thVoyageOfSinbad-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/RocEggHatches-7thVoyageOfSinbad.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Roc and other denizens of Colossa were brought to life on screen by stop-motion animation wizard Ray Harryhausen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8)<\/strong> Q, or Quetzalcoatl, a dragon-like Aztec deity, as depicted in 1982\u2019s <em>Q\u2014The Winged Serpent<\/em>. Picking off hapless New Yorkers from rooftop terraces, Q has attracted police attention. The giant, stop-motion lizard has nested in the spire of New York City\u2019s Chrysler Building, and there laid a single, colossal egg.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QTheWingedSerpentsEgg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-27182\" src=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QTheWingedSerpentsEgg-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QTheWingedSerpentsEgg-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QTheWingedSerpentsEgg-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QTheWingedSerpentsEgg-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QTheWingedSerpentsEgg.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Michael Moriarty, David Carradine, and Richard Roundtree are among those facing off against the winged serpent in writer\/director Larry Cohen\u2019s well-received monster movie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9)<\/strong> The Raxacoricofallapatorians, or the Slitheen, egg-laying aliens native to the planet Raxacoricofallapatorius in the <em>Doctor Who<\/em> universe. They resemble something of a twisted cross between the Pillsbury Doughboy and a Rancor!<a href=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SlitheenFamily-DoctorWho.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-27187\" src=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SlitheenFamily-DoctorWho-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SlitheenFamily-DoctorWho-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SlitheenFamily-DoctorWho-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SlitheenFamily-DoctorWho-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SlitheenFamily-DoctorWho.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adversaries of the Doctor, the Slitheen are, in fact, a <em>family<\/em> of Raxacoricofallapatorians, but when referring to the species as a whole, their surname is used interchangeably with the proper designation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10)<\/strong> Mothra, a <em>daikaiju<\/em> in the Godzilla monsterverse. A beautiful, green-skinned woman, this Queen exercises hypnotic influence over the male astronauts aboard an Earth vessel.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QueenOfBloodsEggs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-27183\" src=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QueenOfBloodsEggs-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QueenOfBloodsEggs-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QueenOfBloodsEggs-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QueenOfBloodsEggs-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/QueenOfBloodsEggs.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After she kills two of the men by draining them of blood, and is herself killed by the lone female astronaut aboard, alien eggs are discovered hidden throughout the ship. It is deduced that the Queen of Blood sought for her race fresh breeding grounds. <em>On Earth!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>12)<\/strong> The Horta, an intelligent, <i>utterly <\/i>alien, seemingly monstrous silicon-based life form that secretes from its body a powerful corrosive, allowing it to effortlessly tunnel through solid rock. Featured in \u201cThe Devil in the Dark,\u201d a 1967 <em>Star Trek<\/em> episode, the Horta\u2019s eggs, numbering in the thousands, have been discovered by Federation colonists working a pergium mining operation on this, the creature\u2019s home planet. Mistaken for valueless geological oddities, many of the smooth, volleyball-sized eggs were destroyed by the colonists.
