However, it was probably the first in the subgenre of the person transported to an earlier era, who decides to bring his new home &#8220;up to date&#8221;\u009d as part of his survival plan. 21st century inflation has brought us from one individual to entire islands, fleets, and towns.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0 invite people to discuss their favourite time travel stories of this genre. We&#8217;ll begin with the following.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/A_Connecticut_Yankee_in_King_Arthur%27s_Court\"><em>A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur&#8217;s Court<\/em>,<\/a> by Mark Twain (1889)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lest_Darkness_Fall\">\u00a0<em>Lest Darkness Fall<\/em><\/a>, by L. Sprague de Camp (1939)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nantucket_series\">\u00a0<em>Nantucket,<\/em><\/a> series, by S.M. Stirling (1998 \u2013 2000)<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Axis_of_Time\">Axis of Time<\/a>, <\/em>series (aka <em>World War 2.0<\/em>) by John Birmingham (2004 \u2013 2007, plus short fiction)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1632_series\"><em>1632<\/em> series (aka <\/a><em>Ring of Fire)<\/em>, started by Eric Flint; expanded into a shared universe with many contributors, many novels, much short fiction. Their online magazine also features non-fiction articles and discussions of how to adapt 21st century technology to the 17th century.
