{"id":2045,"date":"2016-01-01T12:05:14","date_gmt":"2016-01-01T17:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/?p=2045"},"modified":"2015-12-31T12:45:21","modified_gmt":"2015-12-31T17:45:21","slug":"cbs-sues-to-block-axanar-trek-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/?p=2045","title":{"rendered":"CBS Sues To Block Axanar Trek Movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Posted on File 770, Dec 30<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Paramount and CBS have filed a copyright infringement suit against Alec Peters and others involved in making <em>Axanar<\/em>, a fan-produced <em>Star Trek <\/em>movie project that raised more than $1 million on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/194429923\/star-trek-axanar\">Kickstarter<\/a> and Indiegogo.<\/p>\n<p>Paramount has tolerated other elaborate fan productions over the years, such as the crowdfunded fan films\u00a0<em>Star Trek: Of Gods and Men<\/em>, which\u00a0received\u00a0$150,000 in\u00a0donations in 2006\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Star Trek: Renegades<\/em>, which raised $375,000 in 2014. It maybe that <em>Axanar\u2019s <\/em>budget, or CBS being on the verge of launching its new TV franchise, caused the companies to pull the trigger.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the immediate fan reaction to the lawsuit has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/cbs-support-axanar\">Support <em>Axanar<\/em><\/a> Petition at <em>Change.org.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Read more: <a href=\"http:\/\/file770.com\/?p=26824\">http:\/\/file770.com\/?p=26824<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>I read the article in full, and many of the comments, and in fairness, I think CBS and Paramount have a point. From their joint statement: &#8220;The producers of <\/em>Axanar<em> are making a Star Trek picture they describe themselves as a <strong>fully-professional independent<\/strong> Star Trek film.&#8221; (editor&#8217;s emphasis)<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/194429923\/star-trek-axanar\/description\" target=\"_blank\">Kickstarter<\/a> campaign, the producers of <\/em>Axanar<em> write: &#8220;Every member of the Axanar team is a professional who has proven their skills on other projects and films. &#8221; <\/em><br \/>\n<span id=\"sbcbb0f3f\">Diabetic men are  <a href=\"http:\/\/appalachianmagazine.com\/category\/history\/old-ways-memories\/page\/3\/\">sildenafil in india<\/a> more prone to impotence than non-diabetic men.
