{"id":3800,"date":"2016-08-28T12:52:05","date_gmt":"2016-08-28T16:52:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/?page_id=3800"},"modified":"2017-03-10T10:12:18","modified_gmt":"2017-03-10T15:12:18","slug":"making-magic-wands","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/?page_id=3800","title":{"rendered":"Making Magic Wands"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_3801\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3801\" style=\"width: 1936px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/image-e1472402894289.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3801\" src=\"http:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/image-e1472402894289.jpeg\" alt=\"Wands on display at Aug 28th meeting.\" width=\"1936\" height=\"2592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/image-e1472402894289.jpeg 1936w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/image-e1472402894289-224x300.jpeg 224w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/image-e1472402894289-768x1028.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.monsffa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/image-e1472402894289-765x1024.jpeg 765w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1936px) 100vw, 1936px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3801\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wands on display at Aug 28th meeting.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>Tools<\/h4>\n<p><strong>A good exacto or craft knife<\/strong>: always be careful when using sharp objects.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tweezers<\/strong>: you may need them when handling small objects such as beads, sequins or stickers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Small containers for paint<\/strong>: empty dessert cups (puddings, yogurt, fruit&#8230;) or chip canister lids, they may come in handy when you only use a small amount of paint or you need to mix a special colour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Different size paint brushes<\/strong>: you may want finer brushes for more detailed work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Different grade sandpaper<\/strong>: the higher the number, the finer the grade, the smoother the finish.\u00a0 These will\u00a0 be useful when working with wood dowels or branches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1&#8243; hook<\/strong>:\u00a0 when working with wood dowels or branches, screw it in the wide end of the wand so you can hang it to dry.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Basic materials<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Wand<\/strong>: you can use almost anything you want, wood dowels you buy in a store, fallen branches you cut down to size, wood mixing spoon with the round end cut off, even large knitting needles will work.\u00a0 Most wands are between 12 and 15 inches long.\u00a0 If you use a fallen branch, let it dry first and I suggest you use the knife to whittle away the bark.\u00a0 Depending on the look you&#8217;re going for, a branch has more organic curves to it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Craft foam<\/strong>: 2mm sheets come in different colours and textures and can be used to add details to your wand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Acrylic craft paint<\/strong>: they can be found almost anywhere but keep in mind that if you use metallic finish paints, they don&#8217;t cover as well and you should use a flat base paint of the same colour as an undercoat.\u00a0 You can also use glitter paint if you want a sparkly finish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latex Varnish<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to paints and varnish I prefer to use water based products: they clean up better, they dry faster and you don&#8217;t have to worry as much about the smell or toxic fumes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Different kinds of glue<\/strong>: depending on what you are gluing, you may want to use white glue or a hot glue gun.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Decorations<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This is where you can go crazy, anything goes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ribbons, shiny cords, lace or leather.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"bdeafd8097\">Secure from high temperature,  <a href=\"http:\/\/amerikabulteni.com\/2012\/01\/24\/demokratlar-da-ikiye-bolundu-hangisinin-kazanmasi-iyi-gingrich-mi-romney-mi\/\">achat viagra pfizer<\/a> light and dampness.
